Open Day Report 2025

Despite grey skies & the threat of rain a number of families gathered by the courts on Saturday 19th July to ‘Give Tennis a Go for free’ at our Open Day. Coach Katie Brooks gathered the juniors together & was quickly introducing them to some basic racket & ball skills while their parents looked on. Some parents borrowed rackets & took the chance to have a go themselves with club members acting as hitting partners.

Other members chatted to the visitors about the club, explaining memberships, club sessions, coaching options. Katie then coached an older group of juniors before the afternoon was interrupted by rain & everyone retreated to the club house.

While everyone was sheltering the adults arrived for the last session of the afternoon, after a short while with the rain easing off they were all keen to get going. It soon dried up & a range of abilities enjoyed some time on court.

About 40 people attended the afternoon with a number expressing interest in the next Rusty Racket course (2 later signed up), club sessions & junior coaching. All in all a very successful afternoon.
